If you have visited here before, you can probably see that I have changed the name of the blog again. I started blogging at 4URuthie to tell the story of our journey to adopt our 1st daughter. I changed it to Mountains for Maggie when we were praying for God to move mountains on behalf of our 2nd daughter. Well now it is no longer just Ruthie’s or Maggie’s stories. It is now our family's story, and the stories of those we share life with, as we Conquer Mountains together. Both ConqueringMountains.net and 4URuthie.blogspot will lead here.

Sunday Snapshot- All Things May

May brings a lot of things around here- end of the year activities, mother's day, my anniversary, and more reasons to celebrate.

The hubby surprised me this week with the new Canon 5D mark iii as an over the top anniversary gift.  It took me 3 days before I would touch it because I was so overwhelmed by the idea of it being in my house.   He talked me into taking it to Ruthie's end of the year program to test out it's ISO capabilities in the poorly lit auditorium.

These first 2 were shot at ISO 25,600 f2.8 1/800th.  No that wasn't a typo.  The ISO really was 25,600.  Yes it is a little noisy and I could do more to help that in LR but I wanted you to see it here.

The tongue was not part of the program but instead just for mom and dad when she saw us waving at her.

The last 3 are from our trip to Baskin Robbins after the program.  These were taken at ISO100, f2.8, 1/250th

I got Ruthie one of these cones with the icing that looks like a clown.  They used to creep me out as a kid because biting into a clown just seemed a little odd to me.

It didn't bother her at all.

More reports on the camera to come (when I am brave enough to use it again)

Isn't it awesome when hubbies surprise us with big anniversary gifts like that? DH bought me my D700 for our anniversary 1.5 years ago. I had a hard time picking my jaw up off the floor.

Hooray for you! Happy shooting!

And Happy Mother's Day!
