If you have visited here before, you can probably see that I have changed the name of the blog again. I started blogging at 4URuthie to tell the story of our journey to adopt our 1st daughter. I changed it to Mountains for Maggie when we were praying for God to move mountains on behalf of our 2nd daughter. Well now it is no longer just Ruthie’s or Maggie’s stories. It is now our family's story, and the stories of those we share life with, as we Conquer Mountains together. Both ConqueringMountains.net and 4URuthie.blogspot will lead here.

Sunday Snapshot- Flat Roker

There is a book series called Flat Stanley that is about a flat kid who travels around the world in an envelope.  A common school project is for students to make a flat version of themselves and send it to someone to chronicle their adventures.  Last year I took Flat John D (my nephew) to Haiti with me so this year it was my sister-in-law's turn to entertain Flat Jack.

The only problem was that Jack didn't make a Flat Jack.  He decided to make a Flat Al Roker instead.

It is important to keep in mind that Jack is red green color blind so they both look brown to him.  Thus Flat Roker is a redhead. :)   I love that he completed the uniform with a TWC (The Weather Channel) logo and an LL. Bean logo who is the maker of their jackets at TWC.

My sister in law was so creative.  She photographed Flat Roker in different weather environments and even went as far as to spray a water hose over an umbrella with Flat Roker underneath.

She made a super cute little book and mailed it back (with Flat Roker) to Jack's school.  I didn't actually see it until he came home with all of his end of the year papers this week.

Yes that would be Flat Roker talking about the weather at the Texas Capitol.

Thanks Aunt Kelley for taking such good care of our Flat Weatherman. The real Al Roker should be proud.

I have been advocating for a precious little 7 year old girl with arthrogryposis. I would love to talk to you about it. If that is ok, you could email me at
