If you have visited here before, you can probably see that I have changed the name of the blog again. I started blogging at 4URuthie to tell the story of our journey to adopt our 1st daughter. I changed it to Mountains for Maggie when we were praying for God to move mountains on behalf of our 2nd daughter. Well now it is no longer just Ruthie’s or Maggie’s stories. It is now our family's story, and the stories of those we share life with, as we Conquer Mountains together. Both ConqueringMountains.net and 4URuthie.blogspot will lead here.

Sunday Snapshot- Pictures and Ponderings through Europe Part 1

Trent and I returned yesterday from a week in Europe.  After we won the White Christmas contest with the Weather Channel, we decided to take some of the prize money and take a trip for just the 2 of us.  It really was an amazing time.  I struggle with how to share it here in a way that saves the memories for our family (because I print all this in a family book each year) while not boring you to death with someone else's vacation photos.

And "vacation" really is the wrong word here.  It really felt more like a historical tour.  So there will be very few photos this week with us in them.  Something felt strange about posing in front of a 1000 year old Cathedral.  So I didn't.

Now to get started with my favorite pictures and ponderings through Europe.

We flew into Milan and then took a train to Genoa, Italy.  This is the Milan train station.   Can you imagine how many people and stories must have walked this hall? It was built in 1864 so you know it has some stories.

I wonder how hard it was to add things like electricity, plumbing and AC to a building this old.

The ride from Milan to Genoa was beautiful and I know the locals must have thought I was crazy looking out of my window with my camera for 1/2 the time.  We arrived in Genoa to this.   According to my brother, my great grandfather is from Genoa.  I knew he was from Italy but I learned that he was from Genoa just before I left.  I may still have family living there. Who knows?

This is one of the few pictures with one of us in them.  Taken from the side of our boat.

I love the building sticking up in the middle of this picture.  I am not sure if it is a cathedral or a home, but it is beautiful.

So this building, while not beautiful, was one of the most fascinating to me. It is vacant, from what I could see, but must be the old port building or something like that.  I can't help but wonder who or what it has seen.

We were so tired by the time we arrived to Genoa that we really didn't see much at all.  Truthfully, the entire trip left me wishing I could have seen more.

Tomorrow- Cannes and Monaco
