If you have visited here before, you can probably see that I have changed the name of the blog again. I started blogging at 4URuthie to tell the story of our journey to adopt our 1st daughter. I changed it to Mountains for Maggie when we were praying for God to move mountains on behalf of our 2nd daughter. Well now it is no longer just Ruthie’s or Maggie’s stories. It is now our family's story, and the stories of those we share life with, as we Conquer Mountains together. Both ConqueringMountains.net and 4URuthie.blogspot will lead here.

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

 Sorry I didn't update here yesterday.  I had every intention of processing this way during my night shift and even had some thoughts in my head that I wanted to share throughout the day, but when my shift got hard, my hands got full and my desire to declare God's faithfulness became a struggle in those few hours.  Isn't that how we all are?  We are quick to praise Him when it is going our way but question Him when it is not.

There is a song that was popular in church a few years back that said, "You give and take away. My heart will choose to say, Lord blessed be your name."  I desperately want to be there all the time, but I am not.  I want to define God's faithfulness and blessing in my life by His character instead of my circumstance, but I don't win at that all the time and last night was my most recent failure.  I might have to add that song to Maggie's playlist on my computer to help me declare it today.

So now back to my thoughts from yesterday. :)

Each of our kids has a song that we sing over them most nights.   Jack's is about God's sovereignty, Sam's is about his power, DJs (our former foster child) was about God's goodness, Ruthie's covers His love, and Maggie's His faithfulness.

Maggie is the only one who figured out quickly that the song triggered bedtime so she would respond, "no go night night".  Up until this week, I wasn't sure if her song was encouraging her or actually traumatizing her. :)   But now I know because it has been the single most effective way for me to soothe her when she is crying and it has been the way God soothes me at the same time.  When I chose this song for Maggie, I had no idea that it would take on such ministry as it has over the past week.

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be. “Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!“
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
2
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
3
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Prayer requests for today- That we would get some answers with all of the testing they have planned and that she would continue to improve.  BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.

I love the idea of songs for your children, it is too late for mine, they are too old. however, I will remember this when I have grandchildren. Praying for you all the time!
