If you have visited here before, you can probably see that I have changed the name of the blog again. I started blogging at 4URuthie to tell the story of our journey to adopt our 1st daughter. I changed it to Mountains for Maggie when we were praying for God to move mountains on behalf of our 2nd daughter. Well now it is no longer just Ruthie’s or Maggie’s stories. It is now our family's story, and the stories of those we share life with, as we Conquer Mountains together. Both ConqueringMountains.net and 4URuthie.blogspot will lead here.

Where We Are

Today has been a lot of sitting and watching.  We had some encouraging changes and some not so encouraging ones.  To start with the good, her fever is down and this has helped with her respiratory rate as well.  She is also showing some return of her left leg when stimulated.  Also when she is messed with she cries and responds to our voice and even says "up" and signs "please".  These are good things.

The things that still concern us significantly start with the complete lack of return of her left arm.  Also, she has not voluntarily opened her eyes since the initial event.  When her eyes are forced open, it appears that she has lost vision in her right field of vision.  She does not show additional bleeding which is wonderful but she does show increased swelling where the bleed is and this is causing additional complications.  It has been explained to us that this is expected for 3-5 days from the injury.

They are treating her with antibiotics but are unable to treat her with blood thinners because of the bleed.  The physicians have been amazing.  They include me in their conversations and listen to my concerns.  They really are amazing.  I loved our nurse today and that was a real blessing when we were discovering new concerns.

Please continue to pray for no new clots.  That would be devastating.  Pray for her swelling to go down and for her brain to begin healing.

Okay and today's little selfish prayer- Her birthday is on the 8th and I want her awake so I can still celebrate her birthday with her.  I hate for her 1st birthday with a family to be spent in a hospital so I am really hoping she is awake, alert, and allowed to eat cake.  I told you it was silly.

It is not silly to want to eat cake with your precious angel and we will all pray for all of your requests and that you have an amazing celebration on the 8th. :)

You don't know me, and this is the first time I have been on your blog spot, but this isn't the first time I have heard your story. Last November we traveled to China to bring our little one home, and on that trip I met a young awesome woman named Becky who told me all about you and your family. We are praying for you and your sweet girl!God is so big and so mighty, there's nothing our God can't do!!!!
